Position Overview

Lead Catastrophe Risk Analyst – Offshore Risk – Contract Position

Vallum Associates is seeking a Lead Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves a significant focus on risk assessment and management within the offshore sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive portfolio evaluations and generate monthly reports for designated business segments. Articulate findings and portfolio influences to underwriting teams.
  • Equip underwriting teams with essential analytical insights and clarify model results. Oversee external resources engaged in the analytical process.
  • Uphold superior standards of data integrity, cleansing, and entry. Develop thorough procedural documentation for both internal and external teams.
  • Foster and maintain robust working relationships with relevant underwriters and other internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver necessary reports and management information, including regulatory submissions, reinsurer returns, and bespoke reporting as needed.
  • Assess and refine Exposure Management workflows, processes, and reporting mechanisms. Innovate new methodologies for presenting risks to management and underwriters. Lead project initiatives and confidently challenge established practices.
  • Direct infrastructure and development efforts within the Exposure Management team. Supervise process enhancements, model implementation, validation, and upgrades.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Expertise in Exposure Management systems, processes, and reporting, with a preference for experience in RMS.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including Lloyd's RDS.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, and R, with the ability to utilize programming for enhancing processing efficiencies and automating reporting tasks.
  • Outstanding analytical capabilities and meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrate a curious and proactive mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
