About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Design Engineer to join our team at SSE. As a CAD Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of our renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Prepare and design 2D and 3D engineering drawings using Autocad, Revit, and Civil 3D to provide accurate and quality information to inform key projects and influence operational decisions.
  2. Surveying and Data Analysis: Responsible for surveying SSE Renewables Dams under the Reservoir Act, processing survey results to record potential movements, and identifying errors and trends.
  3. Survey Production: Produce 2D and 3D surveys to aid the production of drawings and advise engineering teams within SSE Renewables of key features, movements, or levels.
  4. Point Cloud and Topographical Surveys: Responsible for the production of point cloud, topographical, and laser surveys used for the construction of new Wind Farms, Power Stations, and Solar and Battery Sites.
  5. 3D Model Creation: Create 3D models of Wind Farms, Solar and Battery Sites, and Hydro infrastructure, incorporating them into existing systems such as BIM models, GIS, and point cloud surveys to assist in the creation of a digital twin.
Requirements
  1. Qualifications: A minimum of HNC level in an appropriate engineering discipline, with a strong preference for professional accreditation or ICE EngTech professional membership.
  2. Technical Skills: First-class IT skills, proficiency in 2D & 3D drafting using AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent drawing packages, and a strong understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering drawing principles and engineering methods.
  3. Surveying Experience: Experience of standard surveying practices, using total stations, GNSS (GPS), and digital/optical levels, although not essential.
  4. Travel and Work Environment: Travel and overnight stays will be required as part of this role, and you should be prepared to work in remote outdoor environments, where some working at height will be required.
