We are a two-partner, friendly practice sharing a Health Centre with two other like-minded practices. Our current list size is 2,200 patients, and we strive to provide an ethos of openness and integrity while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a GP Receptionist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to our clinical and non-clinical team members, handling patient inquiries, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the appointment system, including scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations
- Handle incoming phone calls, transfer calls, or respond to requests in a polite and professional manner
- Signpost patients to the correct service and initiate contact with patients, team members, and external agencies via telephone, email, and other online systems
- Support new patient registrations, code registration if needed, and upload data as required
- Maintain patient admin records on SystmOne, including updating patient contact information
- Process patient prescription requests via face-to-face, telephone, and online
- Manage practice incoming and outgoing post, patient letter collections, and sample collections
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception waiting area and notice boards
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
Person Specification
- DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check
- GCSE level or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Effective time management and ability to work autonomously
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
