ATA Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team in Derbyshire. As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a small team of mechanical designers, managing workloads, and ensuring all projects meet quality and deadline requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading a team of mechanical designers and managing workloads
  • Planning and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Engaging in production meetings, contract reviews, and delivery forecasts
  • Providing technical support to the design team, shop floor staff, and answering client queries
  • Utilizing Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling and 2D technical drawings for fabrication and production
  • Performing structural calculations, heat transfer analysis, and engineering checks for motor power, tolerances, and bearing selection
Requirements:
  • A strong engineering background, ideally with experience in heavy or complex product design, including hydraulics, pneumatics, or similar fields
  • Expertise with 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks
  • A dynamic, detail-oriented Lead Mechanical Design Engineer with strong problem-solving skills
  • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent
