About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Practitioner to join our Family Support and Protection team at Essex County Council. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting vulnerable children and families, providing expert guidance and supervision to your colleagues, and contributing to the development of practice standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess complex social care needs and develop support plans for vulnerable individuals, children, and families.
  • Provide expert guidance and supervision to social workers, contributing to the development of practice standards.
  • Manage a demanding caseload, maintaining accurate and timely records, reports, and presentations.
  • Conduct assessments and devise responses to safeguard and promote a child's welfare, intervening as needed based on the assessment.
  • Build strong, effective working relationships within the Council, with partners, and voluntary agencies.
Requirements
  • Hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England as a registered social worker.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, aligned with relevant Professional Competency/Capability frameworks or Knowledge and Skills Statements.
  • Significant experience in social work, showcasing a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of all relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance.
  • Mentoring and guiding both Social Work students and newly qualified/experienced Social Work staff.
  • Chairing meetings involving clients, family members, carers, and other multi-agency professionals.
