Job Duties

The surgical nursing team is seeking a highly motivated, caring, and diligent individual to join our friendly E5 lower nursing team for a 10-month secondment. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in providing care for patients undergoing colorectal surgery and will work collaboratively to ensure high standards of care. This includes conducting thorough patient assessments, developing care plans, and implementing these plans in partnership with patients and their families, tailored to individual needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate attention to detail in patient care and possess a solid understanding of assessing patient needs and effectively communicating these to the broader healthcare team.

Effective communication is essential in nursing and teamwork. Therefore, the candidate should be able to demonstrate the importance of communication, providing and receiving updates on patient progress, and reporting any concerns or changes in patient conditions to the nurse in charge or medical staff as appropriate.

The individual should also possess skills in delegating tasks to other nursing team members when necessary and demonstrate the ability to prioritize their workload while recognizing when to seek assistance.

We are committed to supporting your learning and enhancing your surgical nursing knowledge and skills through tailored study days and bedside training, alongside surgical education initiatives. The candidate will be expected to cover a full shift pattern, including days, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
