Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interim Customs Agent to join our team in Harwich, Essex. As a key member of our logistics and freight team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with import and export regulations, managing customs brokerage and entry, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage customs brokerage and entry using Destin8 and CNS systems
  • Collect and track import and export shipping documentation from freight forwarders and customer service teams
  • Follow up with customers and freight forwarders to obtain missing documentation in a timely manner
  • Stay up-to-date with current legislation and export documentation requirements to ensure compliance
  • Communicate with the Chamber of Commerce to apply for attested documents as per shipping requirements

Requirements:

  • Experience in import and/or export compliance, ideally within the freight-forwarding or in-house sector
  • Desire to grow a career in customs and/or compliance within the import and export industry
  • Commutable to the Harwich area of Essex on a hybrid working basis
  • Experience with CDS, import and export declarations, or CHIEF software
