We are seeking a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering Team at our Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Thetford. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and reliability of our fleet of vehicles and trailers by performing service and maintenance tasks in accordance with planned schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy goods vehicles and trailers to ensure they are safe, legal, and fit for purpose.
- Complete service and inspection records, defect reports, and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements.
- Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure a first-time pass.
- Investigate and rectify vehicle defects, ensuring the correct and effective use of tools, plant, and ancillary equipment.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and carry out any other duties deemed reasonable by management.
- Fully skilled with applicable licenses and vocational training (e.g., LGV C&E license, class one).
- City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs.
- Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting equipment.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components.
- Experience with welding and basic D.C. electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driving license and previous experience in a similar role.
