About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our medical rehabilitation therapy team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will provide specialist assessment and intervention to a wide range of medical and care of the elderly patients, with opportunities to work with orthopaedic, general surgical, and neurological patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the medical rehabilitation therapy service, working closely with the band 7 physiotherapist to provide development and support to more junior staff.
  • Provide highly specialized occupational therapy assessment and treatment to a caseload of complex patients, maintaining up-to-date occupational therapy records.
  • Be a role model for expert clinical care, leading on specific projects and service developments as delegated by the Clinical Lead Therapist.
  • Supervise, teach, and line manage more junior staff and students on placement, promoting their professional development.
  • Participate in or lead departmental research and audit projects, contributing to service development and improvement.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
    • HCPC Registration
    • Evidence of ongoing CPD
  • Desirable:
    • Relevant postgraduate qualifications

    • Awareness of challenges of working in a hospital setting
    • Ability to lead a team and oversee the workload
    • Effective self-management, including time management and prioritization
    • Ability to carry out appropriate assessments of occupational performance and skills for clients with multiple and complex needs
    • Demonstrates ability in assessing a wide range of multi-pathological and complex conditions based on advanced theoretical knowledge of Occupational Therapy in the acute setting
