Position: Landscape Technician
We are seeking a dedicated Landscape Technician with prior experience in gardening and horticulture. The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating various garden and estate machinery, including ride-on mowers, strimmers, and tractors. Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, adaptable attitude are essential for this role within our reputable organization.
COMPENSATION: Competitive salary ranging from £25,000 to £27,000 annually, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.
LOCATION: Based in a picturesque area of Cambridgeshire.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Fixed Term Contract.
WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week, with an on-call schedule during winter months.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A valid full driving license is mandatory.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Landscape Technician, you will collaborate with a team responsible for the upkeep and management of the estate's formal gardens and landscapes, ensuring a high standard of maintenance services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Executing seasonal maintenance tasks as per the directives from the Head Gardener, aligned with the management plan.
- Performing various gardening tasks such as grass cutting, weeding, planting, and hedge trimming.
- Utilizing and maintaining a range of garden machinery, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Conducting maintenance of trees, shrubs, and hedges to promote healthy growth.
- Assisting in maintaining health and safety standards within the grounds.
- Overseeing the upkeep of hard landscaping, including pathways and roads.
- Participating in training for the safe application of pesticides and pest control methods.
- Supporting general estate maintenance activities.
- Being available for on-call duties during adverse weather conditions, including snow clearing and salting.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant qualifications in Horticulture (City and Guilds/NVQ or equivalent).
- Proven experience in gardening roles.
- Skilled in operating garden machinery, including larger estate equipment.
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Current valid full driving license.
