Position Overview:

We are seeking a Locum Specialty Doctor to join our Patient Services team within the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS). This role is integral to the provision of transfusion medicine across Scotland, where we collect and supply blood, tissues, and cells to healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting clinical services and ensuring that donor contributions are utilized effectively for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the clinical medical team, providing care for patients undergoing therapeutic apheresis procedures.
  • Support the transfusion laboratory and engage in clinical liaison with service users.
  • Manage and respond to adverse events related to transfusion practices.

Candidate Requirements:

Applicants should possess a minimum of four years of post-graduate experience. While prior experience in haematology or transfusion is not mandatory, a background in various acute clinical specialties will be advantageous. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, a willingness to learn, and a collaborative spirit.

Additional Information:

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a background check. Full registration with the GMC and a license to practice are essential for this position.

Work Environment:
