Selby, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom Drax Group Full time
Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer – Energy Solutions
Permanent, Full-Time
Onsite

£55,000 - £60,000 + Bonus & Benefits

Are you a seasoned Mechanical Systems Engineer seeking a new opportunity? Do you have a passion for contributing to a sustainable energy future?

If so, this position may be the right fit for you.

In this role, you will lead both team members and contractors, supported by your technical expertise in your designated area.

This position involves overseeing daily operations and taking ownership of a specific plant sector, which includes engineering support during outages, refurbishment, and maintenance activities.

You will be tasked with ensuring the long-term integrity of the plant, safeguarding the Fuel Processing and Auxiliary Plant systems, controlling costs, and, most importantly, executing an engineering and maintenance strategy.

Your role will be pivotal in managing both projects and maintenance tasks that align with the long-term commercial and operational strategies of this diverse plant.

Responsibilities will include managing contracts, which entails detailed technical specifications, risk assessments, and supervising contractor activities while acting as the Contract Owner/User.

Through the work management system, you will ensure the effective preparation and execution of preventative, breakdown, and outage maintenance schedules and work packages.

You will also ensure compliance with legislative, statutory, corporate, and site policies regarding Health, Safety, Environment, Engineering, and Quality standards.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess at least an HND in an Engineering-related field, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree and membership in a Professional Engineering Institution.

You should have a proven track record in delivering significant engineering projects in operational environments, such as milling plants, pneumatic conveying systems, pumps, gas and steam systems, turbomachinery, fuel oil systems, cranes, and fire safety systems, providing technical guidance throughout.

Specifically, you should demonstrate the capability to lead and support projects through their entire lifecycle, including justification, scoping, design, implementation, and commissioning, along with experience in budget management.

You will be confident in leading teams and managing contractors, with the ability to objectively assess team performance to achieve desired outcomes.

Most importantly, you should be adaptable to change, maintaining a positive attitude and a willingness to explore and develop innovative working methods.
