Job Summary
Michael Page Engineering & Manufacturing is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Operations Director to lead our manufacturing site in Stockport. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the strategic operational direction of the site, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive operational strategy to drive business growth and improve efficiency.
- Lead and manage a team of production, engineering, quality, and supply chain professionals to achieve business objectives.
- Analyze and assess operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to drive productivity and quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and lean manufacturing systems.
- Champion quality excellence and right-first-time methodology, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
- Manage capital expenditures, plant development, and budgetary/financial reporting to ensure the site's financial performance is aligned with business objectives.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers, customers, and other external contacts to drive business growth and improve supply chain efficiency.
- Lead the operational team in developing skills, knowledge, and motivation to respond to a fast-paced and ever-changing marketplace.
- Recruit and develop new team members to build succession planning and add additional skills to the business.
- Champion and cultivate an accountable and agile culture, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- Proven track record of managing and leading high-performing manufacturing teams in a progressive industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong operational leadership background, with experience in strategic manufacturing, change management, policies, processes, and systems.
- Experience in lean manufacturing systems and processes, such as six sigma.
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and quality standards, with a thorough understanding of developing relationships with third-party suppliers and 3PL partners.
- Expertise in delivering benchmark OTIF performance gained within a high-volume manufacturing business.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate plans, timelines, and priorities effectively.
- Outstanding presentational, negotiating, and influencing skills, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects and organizational transformations on time and on budget.
- Ability to coach and mentor at all levels, with a 'can-do' structured attitude and a 'hands-on' approach when required.
- Sound analytical ability, with reasoned, well-balanced, and calculated decision-making qualities.
- Drive, determination, and self-confidence in their business and personal abilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
What We Offer
Michael Page Engineering & Manufacturing offers a competitive salary package, including a base salary of £60,000 to £70,000, plus a car allowance, bonus, and benefits.
