The Medical Engineering department is currently seeking a Band 3 Technical Support Officer to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of medical devices within our healthcare environment.
Our department adheres to ISO:9001 and ISO:13485 quality management systems, making familiarity with these standards advantageous for maintaining our commitment to continuous improvement.
Candidates should possess prior experience in a maintenance setting, utilizing tools and equipment across various devices to deliver maintenance services, including basic troubleshooting. A minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 in a relevant field or an equivalent credential is required.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Support Officer will provide essential daily assistance to the Medical Engineering Department and its personnel. Responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing the medical device library service.
- Conducting maintenance on a variety of basic medical devices.
- Performing electrical safety assessments, routine servicing/calibration, and minor repairs on devices.
Additionally, the role includes various administrative tasks such as overseeing inventory management, commissioning new devices, and the disposal of outdated equipment.
About Our Organization
Our department is tasked with the oversight of medical devices, which includes their commissioning, repair, maintenance, and disposal for our healthcare trust and other affiliated organizations. While the primary location for this position is within our main facility, flexibility to work at other sites may be required to fulfill service demands.
The role necessitates collaboration with a range of healthcare professionals, often in clinical settings, thus excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction with medical, nursing, and technical staff.

- Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience.
