We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Lawyer to join our team at ZIGUP as a Legal Counsel.
As a key member of our Group Legal function, you will play a critical role in managing legal risk by advising and supporting our commercial team and board during the tendering and negotiation phases of commercial transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and support the commercial team on legal matters related to commercial transactions, including contract interpretation and negotiation.
- Manage and mitigate legal risk by identifying and addressing potential issues before they become major problems.
- Develop and implement effective risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide legal guidance and support on business-related matters.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant legislation and ensure that our business practices are compliant.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A practicing certificate as a qualified Solicitor with at least 3-5 years post-qualification experience in the commercial field.
- Strong knowledge of commercial law and contract negotiation.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal clients and external agencies.
- Sound commercial judgement and commercial awareness, with an interest in the wider business and its ventures.
- High attention to detail and the ability to think creatively to provide guidance and answers rather than just 'the letter of the law'.
