About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated ASD Assistant to join our team at Empowering Learning. As an ASD Assistant, you will provide specialized support to students with autism, helping them to navigate their educational environment and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and group support for students with ASD, promoting social, communication, and academic skills.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies, ensuring a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers to tailor educational activities to meet each student's needs, monitoring and recording student progress.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and promote positive interactions, encouraging independence and self-confidence in students.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during school hours.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with ASD is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with ASD.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a positive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special needs are advantageous but not essential.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
