Exciting Opportunity for a Learning Support Mentor in Christchurch

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Mentor to join our vibrant and dynamic school in Christchurch. As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they receive the attention and encouragement needed to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalized support to students with SEN, adjusting your approach based on their individual needs.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers to develop engaging and effective learning strategies.
  • Track and assess student progress, providing regular updates to teachers to ensure learning goals are achieved.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe to express themselves.
  • Encourage students to build social skills and develop confidence in their abilities.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour to promote a respectful and focused learning atmosphere.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with children who have SEN is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with students and collaborate with staff.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students in various situations.
  • A genuine passion for education and a strong desire to support young people in their learning.
  • Good organisational skills to keep track of multiple students and their progress effectively.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new strategies for student support.
