Position Overview
We are pleased to present an opportunity for a permanent consultant specializing in stroke medicine at Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role encompasses a commitment of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with the potential for additional responsibilities related to telemedicine services for stroke management.
Candidate Profile
We welcome applications from individuals with a background in Neurology, Senior Adult Medical Services, Geriatrics, or Care of the Elderly. There is an option for a shared service role, allowing for a diverse range of experiences.
Our department boasts a collaborative team of skilled consultants who work in a supportive and adaptable environment. The team is complemented by two on-call trust-grade doctors and six stroke specialist nurses, who play a crucial role in managing acute admissions, facilitating thrombolysis, and coordinating transfers for potential thrombectomy patients. Regular multidisciplinary team meetings with neuro-radiology enhance our service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will be accountable for providing clinical, educational, and managerial services at the highest professional standards. Responsibilities include:
- Delivering comprehensive clinical care to patients, ensuring adherence to Trust policies.
- Collaborating with fellow consultants and the multidisciplinary team to maintain a high-quality service.
- Participating in stroke clinics, TIA clinics, and ward rounds, including on-call thrombolysis duties.
