Position Overview
A prominent client in the Public Sector is seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to enhance their team.

Employment Type
This is a full-time, temporary opportunity with a focus on ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will possess experience in local authority environments.

Role Responsibilities
The primary objective of this position is to apply comprehensive knowledge of structural challenges related to:

  • New constructions, extensions, renovations, and refurbishments across various building types including residential, commercial, educational institutions, sports facilities, and care homes, as well as historic and listed properties.

Key duties will encompass:

  • Conducting environmental assessments and evaluations of contaminated sites, including desk-based research and coordination of specialized site investigations.
  • Providing guidance on flood risk management and drainage solutions.
  • Overseeing demolition projects and land remediation initiatives from the planning phase through to project completion.

Project Management
Developing comprehensive briefs for contractors to execute significant capital projects, which includes:

  • Site assessments, structural design and detailing, drainage planning, and ensuring successful project delivery.

Structural Expertise
Engaging in structural design tasks, which involve:

  • Reinforced concrete, composite structures, timber, masonry, and structural steel.
  • Conducting structural surveys and assessments to evaluate stability and condition.

Candidate Profile
To qualify for this role, candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of both traditional and modern construction methods, alongside general maintenance and repair advice.

Desirable Skills
Familiarity with:

  • Desk studies and site investigations.
  • Long-term monitoring and health and safety evaluations of properties.
  • Party Wall assessments in compliance with relevant legislation.

Compensation
The client is offering a competitive rate of £40 - £50 per hour Umbrella LTD, within the Inside IR35 framework.
