Chief Building Inspector

The Chief Building Inspector is responsible for overseeing the construction and maintenance of company facilities, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and company specifications. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a thorough understanding of construction management and building codes.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, manage, and execute construction projects within company facilities, generating stations, and substations.
- Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with engineering designs, specifications, and codes.
- Coordinate with engineering, estimating, purchasing, and work management teams to resolve technical and field issues.
- Ensure contractor performance is reported through the contractor oversight system and report incidents through Infraction Reports and Action Lines.
- Maintain project files, including daily logs, schedules, and contract drawings.
- Perform night, overtime, and weekend supervisory duties as required.
- Bachelor's Degree with 2 years field construction experience; Associate's Degree and 4 years field construction experience; High School Diploma/GED and 5 years field construction experience.
- Fundamental background in construction management and knowledge in electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, construction, or operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Oracle is required; proficiency and knowledge of ProjectWise, Auto-CAD, Micro-station, Microsoft Projects, Primavera, MAXIMO, and/or Oracle Work Management System is preferred.
- Knowledge of Building Code and permit requirements.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental procedures related to working in generating stations, substations, commercial facilities, or public streets.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture.
- NY State Project Monitor Certification, respirator and asbestos qualifications, gas operator qualification, and work permit certifications as required by job functions.
