Job Summary:

DAI is a global development company seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Human Development Team. This is a full-time, permanent role that can be based in our London or Hemel Hempstead office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of projects to ensure excellent services and exceed technical and financial performance expectations.
  • Deliver technical assistance as appropriate and contribute to building the technical expertise of the wider Delivery Unit.
  • Provide technical and management inputs into proposals.
  • Identify and evaluate risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with projects and develop solutions to overcome these.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with contract service providers and deliver required outcomes.
  • Manage project review processes and provide stakeholders with accurate and relevant information and key recommendations.
  • Manage relationships with clients and help senior colleagues manage more important client and customer relationships.
  • Manage the deployment of project resources and provide forecasts and present variances.
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement and communicate project action plans.
  • Develop and propose own performance objectives and take appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • General Education University or equivalent in relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience in project management in international development.
  • Experience enables job holder to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others.
  • Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.
  • Commercially astute with demonstrable aptitude in client service and management.
  • Good understanding of proposal development, programme management systems and standards.
  • Excellent level of written and verbal English.
  • Driven and motivated combined with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Flexibility, versatile and tolerant in a changing work environment.
  • Willingness to travel to any of DAI's countries of operation.

Desirable:

  • Post-graduate degree in relevant field or equivalent in experience.
  • Experience in or knowledge of relevant technical areas (human development, and/or private sector development, and/or governance).
