About the Role

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our client's growing Ecology team in a home-based role. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key part in supporting significant development projects nationwide, working alongside an integrated ecology and planning team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage ecological projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes within budget and deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior ecologists, sharing your expertise to support their professional growth and development.
  • Oversee and review ecological surveys, assessments, and reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders, providing expert ecological advice and ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Develop and implement strategies for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), habitat management, and conservation planning, ensuring ecological best practices are integrated into projects.
  • Work closely with planning, design, and environmental teams to integrate ecological considerations into larger development projects.
  • Lead and supervise the execution of complex field surveys for protected species and habitats, ensuring data collection adheres to high standards.
  • Ensure all projects meet relevant environmental legislation and regulations, including preparing and submitting necessary applications and permits.
Requirements
  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Genuine enthusiasm and commitment to ecology and environmental conservation.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing abilities.
  • Familiarity with ecological data analysis tools and software.
  • FISC Level 3.
