Penguin Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our client's growing Ecology team in a home-based role. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key part in supporting significant development projects nationwide, working alongside an integrated ecology and planning team.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage ecological projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes within budget and deadlines.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior ecologists, sharing your expertise to support their professional growth and development.
- Oversee and review ecological surveys, assessments, and reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders, providing expert ecological advice and ensuring project objectives are met.
- Develop and implement strategies for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), habitat management, and conservation planning, ensuring ecological best practices are integrated into projects.
- Work closely with planning, design, and environmental teams to integrate ecological considerations into larger development projects.
- Lead and supervise the execution of complex field surveys for protected species and habitats, ensuring data collection adheres to high standards.
- Ensure all projects meet relevant environmental legislation and regulations, including preparing and submitting necessary applications and permits.
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Genuine enthusiasm and commitment to ecology and environmental conservation.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Strong analytical and report-writing abilities.
- Familiarity with ecological data analysis tools and software.
- FISC Level 3.
