Position Overview:
We are in search of a highly qualified and seasoned Manager of Technical Services to oversee and direct a technical services team within a vibrant manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will take charge of a group of seven specialists, which includes a Technical Services Supervisor, two Electricians, two Mechanical Engineers, and two Fabric Engineers. This position is vital for ensuring the effective operation, upkeep, and ongoing enhancement of all manufacturing machinery and facilities. The Manager of Technical Services will concentrate on both scheduled preventative maintenance (PPM) and responsive maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Guide, mentor, and supervise a team of 7, including a Technical Services Supervisor, Electricians, Mechanical Engineers, and Fabric Engineers.
- Design and execute training initiatives to improve the technical capabilities and knowledge of the team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and establishing clear objectives to promote team success.
Maintenance Oversight:
- Manage the creation, execution, and tracking of the PPM schedule to ensure minimal disruption to production processes.
- Coordinate and prioritize reactive maintenance tasks to ensure prompt resolution of equipment and facility challenges.
- Collaborate with the production team to plan and carry out maintenance activities during scheduled downtimes.
Technical Proficiency:
- Offer technical direction and assistance to the team, aiding in complex troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts.
- Remain informed about industry advancements and incorporate new technologies or processes to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a safe working environment.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Promote continuous improvement projects within the technical services team to enhance equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Analyze maintenance data and trends to identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost reductions.
- Lead investigations into root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and team productivity to senior management.
- Communicate effectively with other departments, including production, quality, and safety, to ensure alignment on maintenance priorities.
- Encourage a culture of open communication and collaboration within the team and across departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a technical services or maintenance management position within a manufacturing context.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a talent for motivating and developing a diverse technical team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fabric engineering principles and practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance and repair challenges.
- Familiarity with PPM systems and reactive maintenance methodologies.
