The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to join our team as a Maintenance & Engineering Manager. As a key member of our site leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the site M&E department and developing a strategic approach to maintenance and engineering.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the site M&E department, comprising a team of experienced engineers working across specialist areas.
  • Develop and implement the M&E roadmap, working closely with UK peers to drive world-class maintenance and engineering practices.
  • Take leadership in developing a lean/safety/quality/food safety/sustainability/digital/continuous improvement culture.
  • Manage maintenance activities using the Arla-specific CMMS and OEE, analyzing data to ensure the right equipment maintenance strategy and continuous improvements are implemented.
  • Work closely with Operations on the journey of Operator Asset Care (OAC) improvement & expansion.
  • Financial understanding and work within the framework set by corporate finance, responsible for targets and forecasting of budgets, and accountable for the effective control and deployment of an annual maintenance budget.
  • Deliver technical input and budget proposals to CAPEX applications, collaborating with other functions and stakeholders to ensure new equipment meets relevant legislation and Arla Foods standards.
  • Ensure execution of approved simple/small CAPEX projects within budgets and support ongoing major capex investment with our "Baldur Project" and "All purpose Whey".
Requirements
  • A robust understanding of M&E within an automated fast-moving manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding and experience working with M&E safety & compliance.
  • Proven M&E focussed continuous improvement experience (TPM, WCM methodology preferred).
  • Strong leadership experience with a focus on people development, having managed a M&E department with c30 engineers.
  • An appetite for creating positive change and experience in culture-led change management.
  • Ability to lead, coach, motivate, and inspire people to perform on a day-to-day basis.
  • Unphased by short-term priority changes while keeping long-term goals on track.
  • Capable of demonstrating and leading with a true sense of urgency to meet business needs.
