Job Vacancy

Our libraries serve as vital resources within our communities, and we are seeking innovative and passionate individuals to become part of our library team.

This position involves supporting the provision of a wide array of library services, advocating for the mission of the service, and engaging in various activities designed for both children and adults to foster literacy, learning, and social inclusion through library engagement. We welcome applications from candidates who possess a strong customer service orientation and who will help ensure that our libraries remain central to community life.

Daily responsibilities will be diverse and will require a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service consistently. Tasks will include administrative duties, assisting patrons in utilizing library resources effectively, and providing information, guidance, and support with technology. The role will also involve participation in a variety of library events and promotional initiatives for all age groups, including supporting author events, creating engaging displays, storytelling, and crafting activities that inspire a love for reading and learning. Library Support Specialists will also conduct sessions aimed at young families, promoting literacy through music, rhymes, and storytelling.

We have multiple openings available, and while recruitment is for specific branches, staff may be required to work at any library as needed.

Minimum Criteria:

Candidates should possess at least three standard grades or equivalent qualifications, including English and Mathematics. Experience in a library or customer service environment is preferred but not mandatory. The ideal candidate should demonstrate flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Familiarity with various software applications and confidence in using electronic resources are necessary to assist patrons with computers and related devices.
