Systems Design Engineer

Location: Vacancy Type: Full-time, Temp/Contract (4 months with possible extension) and Hybrid.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at NP Aerospace. As a key member of our Vehicle Systems, Services and Spares (VSSS) team, you will play a critical role in the development, enhancement, and integration of military vehicle systems and components for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the UK and other global partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop military vehicle systems and components that meet the requirements of the MOD and other global partners.
- Work with other team members and project managers to ensure that design solutions are efficient, effective, and meet the needs of manufacture, assembly, and ongoing supportability.
- Undertake problem-solving of design and product issues to resolve functional issues throughout the development and service lifecycle.
- Support prototype system design and build, and input into the definition of V&V activity to support validation of Electrical Systems & components.
- Ensure that design solutions conform to contract requirements and meet the needs of the customer.
Requirements:
- Proven track record of successful involvement in design & development projects – inception to launch.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Design office using Solid Works.
- Familiarity with Armoured Vehicle electrical sub-systems.
- Familiarity with configuration control and change management (Def Stan).
- Experience in compiling Design FMEAs.
- Experience of robust engineering practices including technical risk management.
- Proficient user of MS Office software.
