Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated individual for a substantive role as a Senior Consultant in Emergency Medicine. Candidates must be in the process of securing Specialist Registration through CCT or Professional Portfolio (formerly CESR) within six months of the interview date. As a Senior Consultant, you will collaborate with a diverse and experienced team, enjoying a competitive remuneration package that includes flexible Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). You will have the opportunity to manage your SPA time flexibly, in agreement with the Clinical Director and Service Manager. The department is progressing towards a flexible rostering system, allowing medical professionals to have increased control over their clinical responsibilities within established parameters. Furthermore, the Trust is actively engaged in medical education and research, providing opportunities for involvement in sub-specialties for interested candidates. Given the current challenges in Emergency Medicine nationwide, you will also play a vital role in shaping and influencing future service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • This position will enhance the Consultant-led provision of Emergency Care for patients in the Emergency Department.
  • A special interest in Paediatric Emergency Care is advantageous, though not mandatory.
  • This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the service. Flexible working arrangements are deemed essential for the Department to deliver an optimal emergency service that is responsive to the evolving needs of the NHS.

Our hospitals hold full trauma unit status and maintain close ties with a Major Trauma Centre, ensuring a robust response to trauma cases.
