Position Overview
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) employs a diverse workforce of over 217,000 individuals, both military and civilian, with approximately 123,000 personnel within the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) across more than 300 locations. This role is situated within the Army TLB, specifically for the Army Safety Investigation Team (ASIT), which is an integral part of the Army Safety Group. As an ASIT Investigator, you will be a key member of a dedicated 10-person team tasked with providing the Army with an independent safety investigation capability. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with the ASIT Team Leader to support the Assistant Head of Army Safety in their capacity as the Army Competent Authority and Inspector (ACA&I), thereby enhancing the Army's operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your primary duty will be to assist the Assistant Head of Army Safety in achieving the objectives set forth by Defence. Your specific tasks will include:
- Analyzing safety-related incidents to identify opportunities for organizational learning.
- Conducting comprehensive and independent investigations into safety-related events.
- Drafting high-quality investigation reports that present accurate, evidence-based findings and recommendations.
- Entering all gathered investigation data, reports, and recommendations into the Defence Management Information Systems.
- Enhancing your investigative skills through Continued Professional Development Opportunities.
- Assisting the ASIT Team Leader in meeting team goals and collaborating with other departments as necessary.
Essential Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Information Technology.
- Capability to work autonomously and manage your workload effectively.
- Health & Safety Level 3 general certificate or progress towards it.
- Ability to comprehend complex scenarios, gather, and analyze information.
- Skill in engaging with various stakeholders, providing guidance, and fostering collaboration.
- Experience working within a small, focused team environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior experience in conducting investigations.
- Experience in high-hazard environments.
