About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team at Barclays Bank, where you will play a key role in shaping the future of our digital landscape.

As a member of our Foundations Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying software products that automate our foundational infrastructure offerings, enabling seamless consumption by application teams and efficient management of our technology estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing, and stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.

  • Consult on complex issues, providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies and procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information and influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
