In this pivotal senior position, you will cultivate a highly motivated and efficient team, providing the leadership necessary to ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards. You will oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and take charge of the financial content of our annual report, identifying necessary updates and serving as the primary source of expert technical accounting guidance for all financial and management accounts.

Your key responsibilities will also encompass managing the external audit process and leading the achievement of our organization’s financial reporting strategic objectives. You will engage with stakeholders to devise solutions that align with both current and future business requirements. Additionally, you will conduct monthly reviews of all accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, while identifying, monitoring, and mitigating risks associated with financial reporting and internal controls.

Utilize your accounting expertise in a mission-driven organization

We seek candidates with a recognized accounting qualification from a leading professional body (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) and substantial post-qualification experience. You should demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and possess a proven track record in financial management and oversight. A comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, the Government Financial Reporting Manual, and International Financial Reporting Standards is essential, along with familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning and general ledger systems.

Experience in month-end and year-end closing processes, preparation of financial and management accounts, and the statutory audit process is required. Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to foster positive relationships with all stakeholders, and you should be adept at problem-solving. Familiarity with the National Audit Office, Trading Fund accounting, and the Whole of Government Accounts process, as well as experience in managing business transformations, would be advantageous.
