Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Professional to join our team at JEM Childcare Solutions as a Nursery Chef. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a good awareness of nutrition and healthy eating, and a commitment to ensuring high standards of food safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals for 70 children, taking into account dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of our children, while also being mindful of food costs and waste.
  • Ensure that all food handling and preparation procedures are followed, and that high standards of food safety and quality are maintained.
  • Lead and motivate a team of kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with other members of the childcare team to ensure that the nutritional needs of our children are met, and that all meals are served in a timely and efficient manner.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a childcare setting.
  • Food & Hygiene Level Certificate Level 3 (or at least a Level 2).
  • Proven experience as a Chef, with a strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food production, and culinary techniques.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Proficient in menu planning, recipe development, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels effectively.
