About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Oncology Specialist to join our team at Velindre Cancer Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in outpatient and inpatient clinical care, including the Acute Oncology Service and the Assessment Unit.
  • Contribute to the consultant 24-hour on-call rota, with a low intensity of approximately 1 in 30 for whole-time equivalent.
  • Collaborate with a large team of consultants, specialist registrars, core trainees, and advanced nurse practitioners.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, working closely with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in clinical oncology, applying this knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • GMC Specialist Register with one of the following: CCT within 6 months of interview, CESR, or European Community Rights.
  • FRCR (UK) qualification.
  • Site specialist interest in lung cancer.
  • Experience of MDT decision making, RT planning for lung cancer, and RT for palliative and emergency indications.
  • Independent prescribing of SACT for lung cancer.
  • Acute Oncology on-call experience (junior level, supervised).
  • Experience of recruitment to clinical trials and teaching.
