Position Overview: Lead Respiratory Care Nurse - Specialist Weaning and Rehabilitation Unit

We are pleased to present an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated professional in the realm of specialist respiratory care. This role is tailored for individuals who are passionate about advancing their skills in Respiratory Weaning and Rehabilitation, thrive in challenging environments, and possess strong independent decision-making abilities. We are currently seeking Lead Respiratory Care Nurses for our esteemed unit.

Our facility is recognized as the premier center for weaning and home mechanical ventilation in the UK, providing extensive management and long-term support for patients suffering from chronic respiratory illnesses such as COPD and neuromuscular disorders. Additionally, we offer specialized nurse-led clinics and a home ventilation service aimed at assessing and guiding patients with chronic respiratory conditions.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for this position, candidates must have successfully completed a critical care training program. Ideal applicants will hold a post-registration critical care certification (ITU/HDU) and possess significant experience in ITU/HDU/Respiratory environments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Management of tracheostomies and mechanical ventilation
  • Facilitating weaning from invasive mechanical ventilation
  • Administering acute and chronic non-invasive ventilation
  • Providing High Flow oxygen therapy

Job Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse on the NMC register with the relevant specialty
  • Health-related BSc/1st degree or equivalent qualification
  • Mentorship or Teaching Qualification
  • Completion of specialist courses
  • Post-registration qualification or relevant experience in the specialty

Experience in managing patients within the specialty, along with teaching and supervising others in a clinical environment, is essential. Strong leadership and coordination skills, coupled with current knowledge of clinical practices, are critical for success in this role.
