About This Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Designer to join our team at Digital Extremes Ltd. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in game design and development, with a focus on creating and implementing technical elements of game features.

The Senior Technical Designer will be responsible for designing and implementing new game modes, quests, AI, and events, collaborating with designers, level designers, and other departments to iterate on features and bring them to a shippable state. They will also be responsible for maintaining content after it ships and providing mentorship for Junior Technical Designers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement new game modes, quests, AI, and events
  • Collaborate with designers, level designers, and other departments to iterate on features
  • Maintain content after it ships
  • Provide mentorship for Junior Technical Designers
  • Assist other designers with reproducing and fixing bugs
  • Collaborate with other departments to fulfill scripting needs
  • Be willing and available for firefighting
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by getting involved with all departments
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in game design/development
  • A university or college degree in computer science, game design/development, or equivalent game development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Lua or similar scripting language
  • Basic knowledge of C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Good communication & problem solving skills
Preferred Extras
  • Familiarity with a commercial game engine (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
  • Experience working on projects with live service production schedules
  • Experience with multiplayer/networked games
