Transport Planner Job Description

At supplychainonline.co - Jobboard, we are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling routes for our fleet of vehicles, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions for our clients across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Route Planning: Utilize transport planning software to optimize routes and increase fleet efficiency, ensuring compliance with driver hours, working time regulations, and all relevant legal requirements.
  2. Driver Management: Manage driver allocations and ensure that routes are optimized for cost-effectiveness, compliance, and on-time performance.
  3. Customer Liaison: Liaise with customers and warehouse teams to coordinate loading times and delivery requirements, ensuring seamless communication and timely delivery.
  4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all transport activities, including vehicle maintenance schedules, driver logs, and delivery documentation.
  5. Operational Improvement: Assist in the development and implementation of operational improvements to streamline processes and increase productivity.
Requirements:
  1. Experience: Proven experience in transport planning within the general haulage and/or pallet network sector.
  2. Geographical Knowledge: Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
  3. Software Skills: Experience using transport management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  4. Flexibility: Ability to work flexibly across early and late shifts as required.
  5. Compliance: Strong understanding of compliance and health & safety regulations within the transport industry.
  6. Relationship Building: Experience in building positive relationships with customers and internal teams.
Remuneration:
  1. Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum.
  2. Working Hours: Flexible working hours with early and late shift options.
