About this role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Local Organiser to join our team in Scotland. As a key member of our regional office, you will be responsible for recruiting, organising, and campaigning to support our members in the Local Government sector.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in one-to-one communications, recruitment, and organising, with a proven track record of delivering results in a trade union or community organisation setting. You will also need to demonstrate a deep understanding of trade unionism and our union's values.

As a Local Organiser, you will be based at one of our regional offices but will be required to travel extensively across Scotland to engage with members and deliver our campaign objectives. You will need to be flexible with your working hours, as reaching members can be challenging during traditional office hours.

Key responsibilities

  • Recruit and organise members in the Local Government sector
  • Deliver campaign objectives to support our members
  • Engage with members through one-to-one communications and group meetings
  • Work closely with regional office staff to deliver our campaign objectives
