Position Overview: National Locums is seeking a skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist to join a collaborative team within the NHS Trust. This role offers an opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a well-established department.

Role Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be required to work across two facilities, which are conveniently located within a short driving distance of each other. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Work Schedule: The ward rota operates on a 1:7 basis, with shifts commencing at 9am on Monday and concluding at 9am the following Monday. Additionally, the Consultant will serve as the Gastroenterologist of the Day (GOD) at least once a week, which includes:

  • Reviewing referrals outside of the Gastroenterology ward
  • Triaging EReferrals
  • Providing advice and guidance

The daily hours for this role are from 9am to 5pm.

Qualifications: While advanced endoscopy skills are preferred, they are not mandatory. Candidates must be JAG compliant and will be expected to review their latest Endoscopy KPIs.

Service Delivery: The appointed Consultant will be responsible for delivering a high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic service for both upper and lower endoscopy procedures. This includes:

  • Providing an exceptional outpatient service
  • Managing patient administration
  • Overseeing gastroenterology and medical in-patients on the gastroenterology ward
