Salford, Salford, United Kingdom Teaching Personnel Full time

Position: Junior Behaviour Support Specialist

About Our Organisation:
We are a dedicated Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) focused on providing tailored educational support for children aged 4-11 facing Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Our establishment is committed to creating a secure and nurturing atmosphere for students who have been removed from mainstream education or are at risk of exclusion due to their intricate needs. Our goal is to assist these children in overcoming educational barriers, fostering positive behaviors, and facilitating their reintegration into conventional schooling whenever feasible.

Reasons for Student Enrollment:
Students are referred to our PRU because they require more individualized support than traditional schools can offer. They may have faced exclusion due to behavioral issues, unmet SEN or SEMH requirements, or difficulties in adapting to a standard educational environment. Our PRU provides a compassionate setting where students receive customized interventions aimed at helping them manage their behavior, enhance self-esteem, and achieve academic milestones.

Role Overview:
Are you enthusiastic about embarking on a career in education and dedicated to assisting young individuals with challenging behaviors? We have an excellent opportunity for a Junior Behaviour Support Specialist. In this role, you will collaborate closely with students to help them cultivate positive behavior patterns, enhance their confidence, and realize their potential within a supportive framework.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group support to assist students in managing and improving their behavior.
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of behavior management strategies tailored to each student.
  • Support educators in fostering a constructive classroom atmosphere, intervening to de-escalate challenging scenarios as needed.
  • Establish strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Track student progress and provide consistent feedback to educators and staff.
  • Assist students in developing social skills, emotional resilience, and coping mechanisms.
  • Engage in extracurricular activities and contribute to the broader school community.

Candidate Profile:

  • Passion: A genuine desire to work with young individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors and support their success.
  • Resilience: The ability to remain composed, patient, and optimistic in challenging situations.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for building rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Initiative: A proactive mindset, capable of adapting to evolving circumstances.
  • Experience: No formal qualifications or prior experience are necessary, though an interest in behavior management, psychology, or education is beneficial.

Benefits of Joining Us:

  • A unique opportunity to initiate your career in education and significantly impact the lives of young individuals.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment where your contributions are appreciated.
  • Practical experience working with students requiring additional behavioral assistance.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional growth as you gain experience.

Application Process:
If you are passionate about supporting young individuals and eager to begin a career in education, we encourage you to express your interest. Please submit your CV, and a member of our team will reach out to discuss the opportunity further.

All applicants must possess the appropriate qualifications and training for this position. Please refer to the FAQ section on the Teaching Personnel website for further details.
