Behaviour Support Assistant Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to work in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Salford. The successful candidate will work one-to-one with pupils in Key Stage 3, encouraging engagement in the curriculum and school day.

The Behaviour Support Assistant will provide detailed and knowledgeable feedback on specific pupils, contributing to their re-integration into mainstream school. The PRU assesses pupils who need specialist provision, coordinating Formal Assessments to explore the needs of individual children and how these needs can be met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-to-one with pupils in Key Stage 3, promoting engagement in the curriculum and school day.
  • Provide detailed and knowledgeable feedback on specific pupils, contributing to their re-integration into mainstream school.
  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
  • Contribute to the development of behaviour support plans and strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to behaviour support.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Ability to provide detailed and knowledgeable feedback on specific pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.
  • Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and techniques.
