Job Title: Marine Conservation Officer

Join the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions as a Marine Conservation Officer and contribute to the sustainable management of Western Australia's marine ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement spatial information planning and consultation strategies for marine conservation reserves.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of marine information systems and techniques to support the department's marine reserve planning and management priorities.
  • Provide specialist advice and spatial information analysis to support the department's marine conservation reserve program.
Selection Criteria:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant discipline or an approved equivalent qualification.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience in the application of geographic information systems and management of spatial information relevant to natural asset planning and management.
  • Demonstrated experience in working within a multidisciplinary team and liaising with a range of stakeholders.
  • Considerable experience in the identification, capture, processing, analysis, and interactive presentation of complex spatial datasets.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Eligibility:

To be eligible for permanent appointment, it is essential to have Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship, or Australian permanent residency status or a visa with entitlement to live and work in Australia for the term of the contract.
