About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children's Social Care Specialist to join our team at Semester. As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safeguarding and well-being of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and Chair Complex Child Protection Reviews: Utilize your expertise to lead and facilitate complex child protection reviews, ensuring that the needs of children are met and their safety is prioritized.
  • Network with Partner Agencies: Develop and maintain effective relationships with partner agencies, including social services, healthcare providers, and law enforcement, to ensure seamless collaboration and coordination in safeguarding children.
  • Coordinate Complex Child Protection Enquiries: Utilize your analytical skills to identify and address potential risks and threats to children's safety, ensuring that all necessary actions are taken to protect them.
  • Lead and Manage Teams: Provide guidance, support, and leadership to teams of social workers and other professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in safeguarding practices.
  • Drive Service Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in our safeguarding practices and develop strategies to address these, ensuring that our services meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Foster strong relationships with senior colleagues, external agencies, children, and their families and carers, ensuring that their needs are met and their voices are heard.
Requirements
  • Degree in Social Work: Possess a degree in social work or a related field, with a strong understanding of relevant statutory frameworks and safeguarding principles.
  • Experience in Child Protection: Have significant experience in child protection, including managing and chairing complex child protection reviews, coordinating enquiries, and leading teams of social workers.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including children, families, and professionals.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Utilize your analytical skills to identify and address potential risks and threats to children's safety, ensuring that all necessary actions are taken to protect them.
  • Commitment to Quality Assurance: Demonstrate a commitment to quality assurance and maintaining accurate, up-to-date, and accessible records, ensuring that our services meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
