Supporting Students with Diverse Needs

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a leading mainstream secondary school in Leeds. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and provide additional support to students who require assistance.
  • Adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, particularly focusing on enhancing understanding for EAL students.
  • Provide one-on-one support tailored to individual learning styles and specific needs, especially for students with SEN.
  • Implement strategies to enhance language development for EAL students across reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques to support students with behavioral or emotional challenges, ensuring a conducive classroom environment.
  • Offer emotional support and create a safe space for students to express themselves.
  • Assist in conducting assessments to measure student progress and provide valuable input for educational planning.
  • Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and support staff to share updates on student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for SEN students.
  • Advocate for inclusive teaching practices and contribute to creating an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills in supporting EAL and SEN students.
