Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Building Surveyor to join our Property Services team. Reporting directly to the Head of Property Services, the Building Surveyor will play a crucial role in guaranteeing that our clients receive top-notch service and quality retirement accommodations by:

  • Overseeing both external and internal building repairs, maintenance, refurbishments, and 'Section 20' projects across the Churchill Estates retirement portfolio, coordinating with external consultants and contractors as necessary.
  • Ensuring that all developments comply with regulations, are fit for purpose, and are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Conducting on-site property evaluations to gather reliable stock condition data for future asset management and maintenance strategies.
  • Assisting the operations team with property-related inquiries and processes, fostering excellent communication and relationships with internal customers and stakeholders, including the Property Services team, Lodge Managers, and Regional and Area Management teams.

The Building Surveyor role is operational, and responsibilities may evolve in line with the company's expansion or through individual training and development initiatives.

This position requires flexibility to travel across various regions in the UK, primarily England, for which a company vehicle or allowance is provided.

Candidate Profile

You should possess a solid understanding and experience in construction, building defect analysis, property maintenance, Health & Safety regulations, Building Codes, and other related issues.

A qualification at Degree/HND/HNC level in property construction, engineering, or surveying is preferred, along with either a professional qualification in construction such as RICS or CIOB, or a commitment to obtaining one.

Your ability to manage relationships, communicate effectively, and listen attentively will extend to a diverse range of suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proficient in IT including MS Office applications, detail-oriented, and possess a proactive 'can-do' attitude. You will thrive in a dynamic work environment and be adaptable to change.
