About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Office to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As the Head of Office, you will provide administrative support to the Chief Nursing Officer and the Nursing Senior Management Team, ensuring the smooth operation of the office and the delivery of high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Nursing Officer and the Nursing Senior Management Team, including managing day-to-day activities, prioritizing workload, and handling issues in their absence.
  • Track and control workflow within the Chief Nursing Officer's office, delegating tasks to the Nursing Senior Management Team as needed.
  • Liaise with external agencies and internal stakeholders at Executive and Board levels.
  • Line manage Executive Assistants and Personal Assistants for the Nursing Senior Management Team, ensuring effective and consistent services.
  • Promote cohesive working relationships and minimize silo working within administrative services and among senior leaders.
  • Conduct preliminary impact assessments of the effect of any decision on the Senior Management Team of the Directorate.
  • Coordinate and manage projects on behalf of the Chief Nursing Officer and liaise with key stakeholders, including in wider directorates.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and escalation for administrative matters within the Chief Nursing Officer's office, for all internal and external correspondence, addressing queries and resolving matters appropriately.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual who has a proven track record of providing administrative support to senior leaders. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will also have a high standard of English and excellent keyboard skills.

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice. The role is hybrid with the requirement of a minimum 2 days on site with the Chief Nursing Officer.
