Role Overview

As an Automation Controls Specialist, you will be pivotal in the development, installation, and commissioning of advanced control systems tailored for an automated food production setting.

This innovative food enterprise is at the forefront of food processing technology, providing solutions to major retailers across the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement highly automated solutions, focusing on both software and hardware aspects.
  • Develop and write PLC program logic, contributing to a best-in-class software roadmap.
  • Lead simulation modeling to validate code prior to deployment, utilizing available digitalization tools.
  • Collaborate closely with the Controls Engineering Manager to assist in software roadmap development and cost estimation for control panels, site wiring, and PLC commissioning.
  • Monitor project timelines for both software and hardware, ensuring designs are efficient, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
  • Participate in project review meetings, both internally and with clients.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a controls engineer in a complex M&E design environment, such as food processing, automation, or logistics.
  • Proficiency in Siemens S7 and TIA Portal.
  • A solid understanding of industrial design, with experience in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to write and modify PLC code.
Additional Information

Your experience with Siemens systems in an automated warehouse or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment will be beneficial.
