Data Governance Manager

The Data Governance Manager will play a crucial role in coordinating, supporting, and driving the day-to-day data management and data governance processes across Biffa Waste Services. This includes refining and developing the data governance framework, advocating for its implementation, and ensuring its alignment with the latest business and analytics strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Data Governance Framework: Ensure the data governance framework is up-to-date and aligned with the latest business and analytics strategy. Advocate for its principles, structures, artefacts, and processes, and educate all levels of the business on its importance.
- Team Engagement: Ensure the Data Governance team, data owners, data stewards, and Data Governance Board are engaged and working effectively. This includes designing and implementing metrics to measure progress and ensuring the artefacts and processes to support these critical roles are in place.
- Data Quality: Design and implement a data quality approach, collaborating with data stewards, business, and technical experts to design future processes and application requirements. Manage and update the enterprise data issues log to investigate and resolve issues.
- Information Management: Work with the Head of D&A and BI Teams to ensure information management practices are well-designed and effective, ensuring the use of analytics in Biffa Waste Services is safe, effective, and aligned to the data governance framework.
- Master Data Management: Design, implement, and maintain a Master Data Management approach, working with local business teams, transformation, and central technical teams to implement as appropriate.
- Data Governance Tools: Implement enterprise data governance tools to ensure all data lineage and information definitions and standards are up-to-date and available to appropriate audiences.
- Training and Communication: Ensure all roles and people impacted by data governance are considered for training, communication, and engagement, and provide the technical content necessary.
- 3-5 years of experience running a data governance program or team.
- Knowledge of data standards and quality frameworks.
- Experience with data lifecycle frameworks aligned to regulation.
- Experience of Microsoft Purview.
