About the Role

Ribbons and Reeves are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill a SLD Teaching Assistant position at an esteemed secondary school in Barking. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting teenagers with Severe Learning Difficulties in achieving their academic goals.

The school is part of a prestigious learning trust and has been awarded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. It is a large, oversubscribed primary special school with high-achieving students who go on to attend top universities. The school is located in the heart of Barking, with excellent transport links.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the cognitive and emotional development of teenagers with SLD
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to support students in Key Stage 4 and 5
  • Collaborating with the SENDCo team, including experienced psychologists and SLD specialists
  • Working full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 3:30pm
  • Receiving a competitive salary of £470 per week on a PAYE basis
About You

We are looking for an individual with:

  • A minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant subject from a top 20 UK University
  • Experience working with children who have SLD or special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
