Job Description

Orion Electrotech Automation is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our commissioning and automation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electro-mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and Troubleshoot Electrical Installations: Conduct thorough inspections of electrical installations on-site to identify and resolve any issues.
  • Calibrate and Set Up Electronic Data Acquisition Systems: Configure and calibrate electronic data acquisition systems to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Configure and Tune Automotive Control Loops: Set up and fine-tune automotive control loops, including speed, torque, and temperature controls, to optimize system performance.
  • Modify System Configurations and Software: Update system configurations and software to meet changing requirements and ensure seamless integration with other systems.
  • Follow Commissioning Procedures: Adhere to established commissioning procedures to ensure that all systems are properly installed, tested, and validated.
  • Work with Commissioning and Site Managers: Collaborate with commissioning and site managers to develop commissioning schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Travel and Support: Travel extensively within the UK and internationally to support customers and international engineers with diagnostics and fault finding.
Requirements:
  • Strong Electrical Skills: Possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, including troubleshooting and diagram interpretation.
  • Programming Knowledge: Have basic programming knowledge, preferably in C# or Visual Basic, and a willingness to develop further.
  • Protocol Familiarity: Familiarity with protocols such as Ethernet and CAN is a plus.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate excellent fault-finding and practical engineering problem-solving skills.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Be willing to work away from home and travel overseas, with occasional nights away from home.
Benefits:
  • Competitive Salary: £28,000 - £45,000 per annum, based on experience.
  • Company Car Allowance: Receive a company car allowance after successful probation, currently £450 per month.
  • Overtime Pay: Receive overtime pay for hours beyond 39 per week or when working overseas.
  • Flexible Working Hours: Enjoy flexible working hours when office-based, with core hours of 10am-4pm Monday to Thursday and 10am-2:30pm Friday.
