About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Support Professional to join our team at Plumstead Manor School. As a Classroom Assistant - EAL Support, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to our students whose first language is not English.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent support to EAL learners in our tiered provision, helping them to overcome language barriers and achieve academic success.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting EAL students.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of lessons, including preparing materials and resources.
  • Support students with their English language development, including reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address the needs of EAL students, and to develop strategies for supporting them.
Requirements
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Ability to speak, and ideally to read and write, in one or more additional languages.
  • Flexibility and ability to work across multiple languages and with students from diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Desirable: TEFL/ESOL qualification, knowledge of best practice in meeting the needs of EAL learners, and/or experience of teaching English as an additional second language.
