About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialty Doctor to join our team at the Kings Norton Hospital in Birmingham. As a Specialty Doctor, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day psychiatric and medical management for patients on the Hope Ward - Male Acute Psychiatry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Admit new patients via a full clerking, including full histories, mental state examinations, and physical examinations.
  • Organize necessary investigations and follow up to prepare holistic management plans.
  • Presentation of cases in MDT ward rounds and following up treatment plans.
  • Liaise with referrers, family, and other organizations involved in patient care.
  • Participate in clinical and administrative meetings, such as case discussions and governance meetings.
  • Participate in the first medical on-call rota, with extra days attracting further remuneration.

Requirements

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Recent experience in psychiatry.
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledgeable of mental health legislation and the Codes of Practice.
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes.
  • Committed to continued professional development.
